DNS4ME SETUP GUIDE

Chrome DoH

Follow the instructions below to get started with DNS4ME.

YOUR GUIDE

Setup instructions

DNS over HTTPS (DoH) encrypts DNS requests between your device and the DNS server. It does not encrypt all your internet traffic or replace a VPN.

Before you begin

Complete the initial setup, register your current public IP in IP Access Zones, and enable the services you want to use. Update your zone if your public IP changes.

Sign in and copy a DNS over HTTPS address from Console > DNS Servers. Use a complete address beginning with https://, rather than the DNS server IP. If no HTTPS address is available, contact support before continuing.

Set up Chrome on a computer

  1. Open Chrome, then open Settings > Privacy and security > Security.
  2. Find Use secure DNS and turn it on.
  3. Choose With and select the option to enter a custom provider.
  4. Paste the DNS4ME HTTPS address you copied. Chrome saves the setting automatically.
  5. Open a website to confirm it loads, then run the connection check below in Chrome.

This changes DNS for Chrome, not other browsers or apps. Chrome's setting may be unavailable on managed devices or when parental controls are enabled. Menu wording can vary by version.

To undo this, return to Secure DNS and restore your previous provider or setting.

Check your setup

Open the Connection Check on the same connection. If it reports a problem, confirm your IP zone and service settings, check the address you entered, and retry. A VPN, another DNS app, browser DNS settings, or a managed device policy may change which resolver is used.

If your app or device rejects the address or websites stop loading, restore your previous DNS setting and contact support.
